Hamburg can easily be reached with different modes of transportation.
Many airlines fly to the Hamburg Airport Helmut Schmidt, which is connected via the subway S1 to the Hamburg city centre.
Trains from different countries regularly stop at the Hamburg central station, which is conveniently located at the city centre.
The German highways A1 and A7 both pass through Hamburg, which makes travelling by car very convenient.
Hamburg is also one of the hubs for different bus networks like FlixBus.
Horner Freiheit – Das Stadtteilhaus can be reached via U2, the red metro line, in the direction of Billstedt / Mümmelmannsberg. Alight at the station Horner Rennbahn, take the exit to Bauerberg if your metro train arrives at the old metro station or the exit to Am Gojenboom if your metro train arrives at the new metro station and you can see the tournament venue as soon as you come out of the station. The old and the new metro stations are adjacent to each other.
It is also possible to take the U4, the turquoise metro line, in the direction of Billstedt, to get to Horner Rennbahn. Please make sure that the end-station displayed on the metro train says Billstedt. Many U4 trains end in Burgstr. or Berliner Tor and these trains will not take you to Horner Rennbahn.
The nearest hotel to the tournament venue is the NH Hotel Hamburg Horner Rennbahn, which is about 11 minutes away by foot. The Hamburger Jugendherberge Horner Rennbahn is also nearby, about 15 minutes away by foot. There are also other hotels in different price categories one metro-station before the tournament venue, the station Rauhes Haus. You can find the a&o Hostel Hamburg Hammer Kirche there, the Best Western Hotel Hamburg International, as well as the Hotel Volksschule.
We recommend using the Hamburg public transportation app, the HVV, to buy tickets if you want to use the local transportation like the metro, the underground trains, buses, and some ferries. The ticket prices in the app are 7% cheaper compared to the prices in the ticket shops and ticket machines.
If you plan to use the public transportation more than twice a day, the Day Ticket for the Hamburg AB area gives the most area coverage (all the way to the airport) for the price 7.80 € per day. If you travel by group, the group ticket is recommended. The Day Ticket for groups of up to 5 people in the Hamburg AB area costs 15.60 €.
Please be aware that you need a valid ticket when you enter the boarding areas for the local public transportation and it is not possible to buy tickets from the ticket-controllers and drivers when you have already boarded the vehicle. Click here for more information regarding the ticket prices and the Hamburg local transportation network.
